I Tried Dr. Scholl’s, PowerStep, and OrthoFlexx. Here’s What Actually Works

From Someone Who Stands 12 Hours a Day

Standing 12-hour shifts wrecked my feet, bruised heels, aching arches, pain up to my back. Creams, stretches, new shoes didn’t help. I tried Dr. Scholl’s, PowerStep, and OrthoFlexx. Here’s my honest experience with all three.

1. Dr. Scholl’s

I think almost everyone starts with Dr. Scholl’s because they’re everywhere. You can grab them at the drugstore for a low price, and the packaging makes them look like a simple fix. When I first slipped them into my shoes, I liked the soft cushioning. For a couple of hours, they actually felt decent.

But after wearing them for full work shifts, I realized the comfort didn’t last. The arch support wasn’t high enough or firm enough to keep my feet aligned. By the end of the day, my pain was back, sometimes worse.

Pros:
    • Affordable and easy to find at most stores.
    • Provide some short-term cushioning that feels good at first.

Cons:
    • Arch support is too low and too soft to help with real conditions like plantar fasciitis or flat feet.
    • The huge variety of different models (gel, foam, heel cups, etc.) can be confusing, it feels like a guessing game.
    • Feels more like a temporary comfort product than something built for long-term pain relief.

Verdict: Great if you just need light cushioning, but not enough if you’re serious about fixing foot pain.

2. PowerStep

After being disappointed with Dr. Scholl’s, I decided to try PowerStep. They’re a little pricier, and I saw they had a lot of positive reviews online, so I thought they might be a step up.

Right away, they felt sturdier and gave more structure than Dr. Scholl’s. But after a few long shifts, I started noticing new issues. The insoles are stiff, and they don’t have much padding under the heel or forefoot. After 10 to 12 hours, that stiffness turned into soreness.

The arch support is there, but not very strong. If you’re lighter, they might work fine, but for people over 220lbs / 100kg like me, it doesn’t feel solid enough to hold up.

Pros:
    • Better structure than Dr. Scholl’s and solid reviews on Trustpilot.
    • Provides some support that feels helpful at first.

Cons:
    • Too stiff, with very little cushioning in the heel and forefoot.
    • Arch support isn’t firm enough for heavier people or those who need stronger alignment.
    • Some customers complain about a complicated return process.

Verdict: A step up from drugstore insoles, but still not comfortable enough for long shifts.

3. OrthoFlexx

After being let down twice, I finally decided to try OrthoFlexx. From the very first shift, I noticed the difference.

The arch support is firm, reinforced, and high enough to keep my feet properly aligned, which immediately took pressure off my heels and arches. At the same time, they have enough cushioning to stay comfortable.

What I really appreciated was how simple the choice was. OrthoFlexx only offers two models: Max Arch Support, which works for most people, especially those with serious foot pain, and Light Arch Support, for those who prefer a lower profile.

Pros:
    • Affordable compared to $800+ custom orthotics.
    • Simple to choose from, only two clear options.
    • Firm arch support that doesn’t collapse, even for people over 220lbs / 100kg.
    • Comfortable balance of support and cushioning, perfect for long shifts.

Cons:
    • Only available online, not in stores.
    • Can feel a little firm at first if you’re used to regular inserts.

Verdict: The only insole that actually let me work 12-hour shifts without ending the day in pain.

Why OrthoFlexx works when nothing else does

Most people don’t realize how much pain comes from poor alignment and collapsing arches.

Soft insoles or memory foam feel nice at first, but they flatten fast. Once the arch collapses, the pain comes back worse.

Orthoflexx Max Arch Support Insoles are built differently. The Tri Support System™ does what ordinary insoles cannot:

  • Structured Arch Support: With the right firmness and height, it provides stable arch support that won’t collapse under pressure.
  • Deep U-Shaped Heel Cup: Cradles your heel and provides stability to the foot, so it stays lined up and does not roll in
  • Cushioned Forefoot & Heel Pads: Helps to absorb shock and reduce pressure on these areas.

Trusted Quality: 94% of interviewed customers reported experiencing pain relief.

30-day Money-Back Guarantee: Receive a full refund if you do not experience relief from foot pain, no questions asked.

Waffles on buying these!! DO NOT WAIT!

I am a 330lbs guy and have had back, knee, ankle and feet issues until I finally caved and bought these.
What a difference, the back pain went away with a combination of stretching and the insoles. My feet feel amazing, my feet are not sore, they are realigning slowly.
I am waiting out a few months to make a real assessment of them but for now WOW!

Pain relief I didn't know was possible.

I have been blow away by these insoles.

After 12+ years of consistent foot pain in my heels/arches, whether I'm standing for long periods of time or not.

These insoles have improved my foot health 10-fold.

The Insoles are amazing.

The Insoles are amazing. Instant comfort. Straighten my ankles up. Swapped them around in all my shoes. I have 2 pairs. Need to get more.

I noticed a difference immediately when I removed the regular shoe insert and inserted the orthotics. [...]
After 70+ years I was not expecting much but I was surprised that there was a noticeable difference with the orthotics. There was enough relief that I will probably purchase more of these inserts.

Finally found orthos that work as well as my 10yr old rx orthos. And a lot cheaper. Next sale I’m going to stock up so I can put one in each pair instead of limping around the house trying to remember which shoes I left them in.

So far my experience with using OrthoFlexx for almost two weeks now has been amazing. Having that arch support while I wear flat loafers and standing for long hours has truly changed how my legs feel.
