Standing 12-hour shifts wrecked my feet: bruised heels, aching arches, pain up to my back. Creams, stretches and new shoes didn’t help. So I tried a drugstore insole, a popular firm arch support, and OrthoFlexx. Here’s what happened with all three.

1. Drugstore arch insoles

I started with a pair from the drugstore, the kind sold for people who are on their feet all day.

At first, they felt comfortable, so I thought I’d finally found a fix. But by the end of a shift, my foot pain was right back.

For me, the problem was the arch. It flattened as soon as I put my weight on it.

Pros:

Cheap and easy to find.

Comfortable when you first put them on.

Cons:

For me, the arch flattened under my weight.

The relief didn’t last through a full shift.

Verdict: Fine for comfort, but they didn’t solve my foot pain.

2. A popular firm arch support

Next I tried a well-known arch support brand. The reviews were good, so I thought these would finally give me the support I needed.

At first, they felt structured. But once I stood on them, the arch gave way under my weight.

They also felt stiff, with little padding under the heel. After a long shift, that stiffness turned into soreness.

Pros:

Firmer than drugstore insoles.

Good reviews.

Cons:

For me, the arch wasn’t firm enough to hold my weight.

Felt stiff, with little cushioning in the heel and forefoot.

Verdict: Better than drugstore insoles, but not enough support for my shifts.

3. OrthoFlexx Max

After being let down twice, I tried OrthoFlexx. They have great reviews on Trustpilot, so I gave them a shot.

From the first shift, I noticed the difference. The arch support is firm, reinforced, and high enough to keep my feet aligned, which took pressure off my heels and big toe.

The arch only lowers slightly under weight, just like it should. And they have enough cushioning to stay comfortable all day.

Pros:

Firm arch support that didn’t collapse under my weight (over 220 lbs / 100 kg).

A fraction of the price of custom orthotics, which cost over $1,000.

Good balance of support and cushioning for long shifts.

Cons:

Only available online, not in stores.

Can feel a little firm at first if you’re used to regular inserts.

Verdict: The insole that held up for me and let me finish 12-hour shifts without ending the day in pain.

Why OrthoFlexx Max holds up

Many people don’t realize how much pain can come from collapsing arches.

A lot of insoles feel nice at first, but the arch flattens under your weight. Once it collapses, the pain comes back.

OrthoFlexx Max Arch Support Insoles are built differently. The Tri Support System™ is designed with:

  • Structured Arch Support: Firm enough to hold up to 330 lbs / 150 kg without collapsing.
  • Deep U-Shaped Heel Cup: Cradles your heel and keeps your foot stable, so it stays lined up and does not roll in.
  • Forefoot & Heel Pads: Help absorb shock and reduce pressure on these areas.
